Santa Claus is coming to town!

We took Peyton to see Santa at the mall.  She's pretty timid and shy so of course wasn't so sure about him.  She sat on his lap okay when I was standing if front of her.  Santa was whispering to me to step back, so I did and then the freak out began!  Her scream started out soft and escalated to like a really loud fire engine!  They did get one shot of her checking him out before she cried, pretty cute!  I wish we would have taken some with our camera as well so we had some of the crying ones too but there is always next year!

We also had Peyton's one year photos taken.  We weren't sure if we were even going to be able to go to the shoot, she was pretty miserable the day before but perked up for us just in time.  It was way to cold to go outside to get any in the snow so they are all indoors but turned out pretty cute.  Here are some of the best ones.

Sick Sick Sick and Standing!

It's been entirely WAY TOO LONG since I've posted anything, I apologize.  We have some fun stuff to share and some not so fun stuff!  There are a few videos with this one.  Lets start with the not so fun....

Peyton has been a sick little girl for basically the whole month of December.  This makes life in the Dirks' household miserable!  It started with a basic cold - stuffy, runny nose, cough, sneezes etc..That cleared up for about 3 days.  Then it came back twice as bad with a fever.  Poor thing was just not herself.  We had a couple trips to see the doc, of course not much they can do, just a virus.  So needless to say we stocked up on the Tylenol and Motrin and did the best we could!  She's finally better now (with the exception of a lingering cough) but has some new issues.  The girl refuses to sleep in her own bed!  She wants to sleep in bed with me and basically throws a fit when she doesn't get her way.  This a reoccurring theme throughout the day when mom is around.  She will be home with dad and playing just fine on the floor content as can be and I will come home and within seconds, the whining begins and she is glued to me.  My theory on this is that she just loves me too much and can't stand to be apart from me.  : )  Her new thing is to shake her head no to just about anything you ask her.  Watch and see...

Now on to the fun stuff!  Peyton decided she was going to stand up all by herself.  She's only done it a few times in the few days she wasn't sick, but even shows signs of attempting to walk as well!

And yes Boston, (her cousin in Texas who is a couple months younger) she can clap and stand at the same time too!   ; )

Happy 1st Birthday!!

Well, a year has come and gone and what a ride it's been!  Peyton turned 1 on November 10.  I guess its time to transition her away from the bottle and onto whole milk in a cup.  This may be tricky, she LOVES her bottle!  Doc says she's doing great and is a consistent grower.  She can eat pretty much everything now so bring on the Thanksgiving dinner!
One Year Stats:
Height: 31 inches (95%) WOW!!  she is one tall little lady.
Weight: 21 lbs (49%)
Head: 46 cm (75%) - she has to have somewhere to store those cheeks!

We had her 1st birthday party last weekend with the family!  I think it's safe to say that this little girl is pretty  lucky......or spoiled!  : )  Our living room has been turned into a play center with so many toys!!  I think her favorite part about opening presents was the tissue paper.  She'll be ready to go by Christmas though!  We had cupcakes and Peyton had her own "smash cake."  She was a little timid (didn't help she had 10 people standing right in front of her with cameras) but after a little "nudge" and help from mom we made a mess!

A little tune: "Happy Birthday to You"

This is pretty long (5 minutes) but here is her first cake experience

BOO! and POO!

Happy Halloween everyone!  It was Peyton's first and I think she liked it.  Here's a few photos of our little bunny rabbit!  (she LOVE'S her bunny).

Okay!  Wow did we have an "EXPERIENCE" at the Olive Garden today!  Gma and Gpa Dirks were here and we decided to go out to eat.  We got all dressed and ready to go.....this was Peyton before the Olive Garden. ........
We waited 20 minutes or so for our table, sat down and ordered.  Peyton was sitting in the high chair minding her own business happy as usual when all of sudden her face turned bright red and it was pretty obvious she was taking care of some business!  Well that she was!  I peeked in to check and it was an EXPLOSION!  (warning! this may get kind of gross!) There was liquid poo all over her back, clothes, the high chair and even managed to get some on her UGG boots!  Sheryl and I took her to the bathroom to clean her up.  Stripped her down to nothing, rinsed her clothes out in the sink and got her all changed.  Thank God for a couple of things.....1. Sheryl being there, that was definitely a two person job and 2. Kyle actually packed a second pair of clothes!  We get back to the table, sit down and start eating our salad (my favorite part), Peyton is doing good, giggling eating Cheerios etc.... when UH OH!  she makes the face!  I say, "Are you doing that again?"  Sure enough, not 10 minutes later she EXPLODES again!  Pretty much liquid poo all over.  There was a little puddle on the high chair seat that had dripped down to make a little puddle on the floor.  The poor table sitting across from us saw the whole thing and I bet they were super excited about there lunch!  Did my best to clean that up and scooped her out of there as fast as we could!  CHECK PLEASE!  We had to strip her down again in the parking lot in the back of the car and of course did not have anymore clothes so Sheryl found an old shirt in the back of their car so that is what she went home in.  This was Peyton after Olive Garden!
What a day!

She's almost 1!

I can't believe Peyton is almost 1!!  Where did the time go?  She now pulls herself up and walks alongside anything she can get her hands on.  She got a walker toy from Grammy Pammy but puts to much weight on it still to do it all my herself but it won't be long before she's off.  She loves to use Kyle and I as a jungle gym, laughs hysterically when we play the stinky socks game and will pretty much eat anything she can find.  She loves cheerios and turkey and we starting to introduce whole milk to her but she's not so sure about that yet.  Here are some pics and a couple of videos from the past couple of weeks.

Mini Vaca to Cali

Kyle and I went to San Diego earlier this month for one of my best friends wedding.  I was her personal attendant.  She got married at her cousins house up in the mountains and it was absolutely beautiful!!  We got away for an afternoon and made it down to the beach to dip our toes in the ocean as well.  It was fun but a quick trip.

Daycare update

Well its been a couple of weeks and a lot has happened.  We are happy to announce we found a new daycare provider through a co-worker of mine.  Her name is Martina and she stays home with her two girls (ages 4 and 1) and has been talking about taking another child on and starting daycare.  She is only starting with Peyton and so far so good.  Peyton loves the girls and seems to be getting along great.

TOUCHDOWN!

So we've been teaching Peyton "touchdown" the last couple of weekends during football throwing our arms up in the air like "so big" only touchdown.  We were in the car tonight and Peyton was in the back seat doing this all by herself without prompting it.  It's pretty awesome!

Of course, her first words would be touchdown! : )

Pumpkins and Spinning

We took Peyton to a pumpkin patch to get her first pumpkin.

This is Peyton's new thing when she sits on the floor to play.  Hilarious!
