Santa Claus is coming to town!

We took Peyton to see Santa at the mall.  She's pretty timid and shy so of course wasn't so sure about him.  She sat on his lap okay when I was standing if front of her.  Santa was whispering to me to step back, so I did and then the freak out began!  Her scream started out soft and escalated to like a really loud fire engine!  They did get one shot of her checking him out before she cried, pretty cute!  I wish we would have taken some with our camera as well so we had some of the crying ones too but there is always next year!

We also had Peyton's one year photos taken.  We weren't sure if we were even going to be able to go to the shoot, she was pretty miserable the day before but perked up for us just in time.  It was way to cold to go outside to get any in the snow so they are all indoors but turned out pretty cute.  Here are some of the best ones.

Sick Sick Sick and Standing!

It's been entirely WAY TOO LONG since I've posted anything, I apologize.  We have some fun stuff to share and some not so fun stuff!  There are a few videos with this one.  Lets start with the not so fun....

Peyton has been a sick little girl for basically the whole month of December.  This makes life in the Dirks' household miserable!  It started with a basic cold - stuffy, runny nose, cough, sneezes etc..That cleared up for about 3 days.  Then it came back twice as bad with a fever.  Poor thing was just not herself.  We had a couple trips to see the doc, of course not much they can do, just a virus.  So needless to say we stocked up on the Tylenol and Motrin and did the best we could!  She's finally better now (with the exception of a lingering cough) but has some new issues.  The girl refuses to sleep in her own bed!  She wants to sleep in bed with me and basically throws a fit when she doesn't get her way.  This a reoccurring theme throughout the day when mom is around.  She will be home with dad and playing just fine on the floor content as can be and I will come home and within seconds, the whining begins and she is glued to me.  My theory on this is that she just loves me too much and can't stand to be apart from me.  : )  Her new thing is to shake her head no to just about anything you ask her.  Watch and see...

Now on to the fun stuff!  Peyton decided she was going to stand up all by herself.  She's only done it a few times in the few days she wasn't sick, but even shows signs of attempting to walk as well!

And yes Boston, (her cousin in Texas who is a couple months younger) she can clap and stand at the same time too!   ; )
