Miss Independent, Terrible 2's and Third Person

"Peyton do it," "me get it," these are phrases often heard around the house.  Our little miss Peyton is more like little miss independent!  So much so, she will break down a throw a fit if you try and do something for her.  Example: She wanted a cookie, so I got the Oreo's down off the top of the fridge and opened the package.  She freaked out, threw herself on the floor and proceeded to kick and scream because she wanted to do it.  So I put them back up on the fridge, picked her up so she could get them down and open them up.  We had a good week or two with these temper tantrums pretty regularly.  She would get so upset about absolutely nothing to the point of getting physically sick a couple times.  Such a drama queen!  Knock on wood, she has been a lot better the last couple of days.

Speaking of cookies, this little girl is a candy monster.  Ever since Easter all she wants is candy!  She got the movie HOP for Easter from Steph and the song, "I want candy" is in it and it is so fitting.  Somehow she's talked us into giving here a piece of candy every time she goes potty on the big girl potty.  We're still working on the whole potty training thing but if you mention candy, she'll go running!

A new favorite is "A LOT" of everything.  Washing her hands, she needs A LOT of soap!  Taking a bath, A LOT of bubbles!  Brushing her teeth, A LOT of toothpaste!  You get the idea....

Peyton in the third person - everything lately is Peyton, Peyton, Peyton.  "Peyton play with kids at park," "Peyton put shoes on," It's kind of funny, at least she likes her name!  We did get her to say Peyton Mae once but most of the time when we say her name is Peyton Mae Dirks, she usually says, "NO, me Peyton!"

Other random fun and quotable's:

  • Grammy Pammy taught her: Here is the Church, here is the steeple, open the doors and see all the people.  She does the hand motions along with it, pretty cute!
  • "OOOOH, MAN!"  - in the tone you imagine when something doesn't go right
  • "Me no cry, me big girl now"
  • "Oh, honey!"  - she calls her baby's and us honey all the time, wonder where she got that.
  • "Me so cute" and "all pretty now"
  • We bought her some big girl underwear and she is obsessed with them.  She actually likes to play with them.  She will very meticulously lay them out around the room, then lay each of her babies and animals on top of them.  We have no idea what all that means but she is very particular about it.  When she does wear them, she always wants to wear two pair at a time.  Which just means, two pair wet when she has an accident!
  • We were shopping and saw some sequined pillows.  Peyton pointed to them and says, "grandma Sheryl sparkly!"  I guess Gma Sheryl does wear sparkles a lot and she likes them. Haha!
  • The movie 13 going on 30 was on today and got the part where they all dance to Michael Jackson's Thriller.  Peyton tried to follow along to the steps and dance with them.  She loved it and had me rewind it three times to do again!  It was hilarious.  Dance class, here we come!
  • We've been working on her big girl room.  Kyle painted this weekend, we ordered her bed and dressers and picked out some bedding.  I'll post photos once it's all done.  Peyton's pretty excited about it.  She has her little room and her big girl room right now.  Here's to hoping the transition goes well!
In closing, an adorable video.  My mom gave her a fairy princess costume that has a tutu skirt that Peyton is OBSESSED with.  She would wear this thing all day, everyday if we let her.  In fact, I am pretty sure she went to bed with it on tonight!  Every time she wears it, she's sure to tell us how cute she is (usually unprompted).  Enjoy!
Until next time...

Happy Easter

Easter has come and gone and I'm just now getting to this but Mr. EB did pay a visit to the Dirks' house!  Peyton loved Easter.  With all the eggs, bunnies and CANDY, how can you really go wrong.  Both Gma's and Gpa's came along with Great Gma, Stephy, Tyson and Shannon.  We all went to Easter service at HOPE in the morning, it was amazing as usual, and I made dinner.  Yes, you read that correct, I cooked!  Nothing too fancy but I must say it was a success, at least no one complained or got sick!   Enjoy the photos!
